Helmy Eltoukhy, PhD
Co-Founder, Avantone and Guardant
Helmy Eltoukhy, PhD is a scientist and entrepreneur renowned for his contributions to genomics and personalized medicine. He co-founded Avantome, a semiconductor DNA sequencing startup acquired by Illumina in 2008. In 2012, he co-founded Guardant Health, pioneering non-invasive liquid biopsies for cancer detection and monitoring. Under his leadership, Guardant launched the first comprehensive liquid biopsy for advanced-stage cancer patients and the first blood-only test for recurrence monitoring. Eltoukhy holds BS, MS, and PhD degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University and has authored numerous publications and patents in the field.
