Ellipsis Health is revolutionizing the way behavioral health is assessed and managed. We are currently looking for an experienced platform/backend engineer with significant experience in building a highly scalable and available system in a public cloud. 

 

This is a technical leadership role and you will work closely with our CTO to define the architecture, build a flexible and secure API layer, and integrate our system in the healthcare ecosystem. Ellipsis Health is located in the San Francisco Bay Area, but we are open to remote candidates for this role in the US, Canada, India and beyond.

RESPONSIBILITIES

​

• Architect a public-facing API layer that is safe, secure, and scalable

• Provide guidance on the stack and technologies for a cloud-neutral platform

• Build and lead the backend engineering team and mentor junior engineers

• Work closely with other engineers, data scientists, and stakeholders from Product, Business Development, and Customer success

• Participate in operating the service and meeting our SLA

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

​​

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science from a reputable college

• 5+ years of industry experience

• 2+ years of experience with a public cloud (GCP / AWS / Azure). GCP preferred.

• Excellent knowledge of JavaScript and Node.js. Bonus points for Python and Java.

• Experience developing large scale web-based APIs, Platforms, and Services (SaaS/PaaS)

• Excellent grasp of algorithms, data structures, and CS concepts such as asynchronous processing, multi-threading, queuing, pub-sub, etc.

• Experience with scalable systems such as:

  • Pub-sub (Google Cloud PubSub/Kafka/Kinesis)

  • NoSQL (Firestore/BigTable/MongoDB/Cassandra/DynamoDB)

  • Object stores (Google Storage/S3)

  • Data warehouses (BigQuery/Redshift/Snowflake)

  • Caching (Memcache/Redis)

  • Logging (ElasticSearch, Logstash/Fluentd, Kibana)

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

• Experience with CI/CD (git/Jenkins) and DevOps (Prometheus/Zabbix/PagerDuty/OpsGenie)
