Mental health conditions are at epidemic proportions. Nearly a third of the U.S. population has depression or anxiety, and 41 percent are reporting mental health disorders - two times more than 2019. That means, 1 in 5 U.S. adults and 1 in 6 U.S. youth (aged 6-17) experience a mental health condition each year. The National Alliance on Mental Health estimates that 55 percent of people with mental illness are not receiving treatment - which is compounded by the average 11 years one waits from the onset of symptoms to receive a diagnosis - and that untreated mental illness costs the country up to $300 billion every year due to losses in productivity. Additionally, up to 60 percent of people with chronic health conditions also struggle with their mental health. To further exacerbate the crisis, estimates project a shortage of up to 30,000 psychiatrists in the U.S. by 2024. Mental health screening is vital.
